Sharni Vinson first made an appearance as an actor in 2001 when she played a role on Home and Away, a soap opera in Australia. The casting agent wanted to see her perform one of the major characters. Although she did try out to play the part, she wasn't chosen. Instead, she was cast in the show as Cassie Turner, a troubled girl who lives in foster care.
